ESPN NEWS: ESPN’s Sportscenter app, or more accurately the intern who runs this app, has noted that Cincinnati’s home opener against the Toledo Rockets has been moved up a week to tonight. Somebody better tell the team that they need to get down to Paul Brown Stadium right quick...
Toledo Rockets: Toledo Rockets are the athletic teams that represent the University of Toledo. The Rockets are a Division I Football Bowl Subdivision team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association and play in the Mid-American Conference (MAC)...
Cincinnati Bearcats: The Cincinnati Bearcats are the NCAAF athletic teams representing the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati at Ohio. The school's athletic teams are members of the American Athletic Conference, which from 1979 to 2013 was known as the Big East Conference. Cincinnati Bearcats is currently the only member of The American that is located in the Midwestern United States, all other members are in the Northeast or South...
The Cincinnati Bearcats Info: take the field for the first time in 2014. The Bearcats are hoping transfer Gunner Kiel lives up to the expectations that made him a quarterback recruit at LSU and Notre Dame. Cincy is stocked at wide receiver with Shaq Washington leading the group with 78 receptions a season ago while Max Robinson and and Chris Moore provide alternative options through the air. The rushing attack will feature Hosey Williams and Ralph David Abernathy which will give Cincinnati a pair of productive choices in the backfield behind three returning starters on the offensive line. The defense should be solid among the front seven but need more plays from the secondary...
CINCINNATI: Chris Moore and Mekale McKay were each yelling at the TV Sunday night but for different reasons. The two University of Cincinnati wide receivers had Denver Broncos receivers as part of their fantasy teams. Moore had Demaryius Thomas, who despite being targeted 11 times had just four catches for 48 yards. McKay had Julius Thomas, who turned seven catches from Peyton Manning into 104 yards and three touchdowns in Denver's 31-24 win against Indianapolis...
Analysis: I will be going with the Bearcats, who drew 2 Bye weeks to start the year, while Toledo was playing and losing their starting QB for this game. That is a huge advantage for the Bearcats. Cincinnati still hasn’t settled on a QB, but most likely it will be Notre Dame Transfer Gunner Kiel, who has a big arm and plenty of weapons to throw to. He should have good success vs a weak Toledo pass defense that allowed Missouri 325 yards passing and New Hampshire 338 yards passing. The Toledo will be a bit more pedestrian with Logan Woodside back there and he will be facing the best defense in the AAC. The Bearcats have all the edges in this one, including the homefield edge, plus we note the Tommy Tubberville is 16-2 SU in his career in home openers and has outscored his opponents by 27 ppg in those games. I say Bearcats by at least 2 TDs here...
